Rannís Technology Development Fund
Iceland's main public R&D grant for innovation in industry, with categories that follow a company's growth: seed, Sproti for new companies, Vöxtur for development and Markaður for market entry. Calls open twice a year, with company grants in the autumn round and applied research in the spring round.
Deadlines
The applied research category closed 16 February 2026; the next spring round date was not published as of 2026-09-07. Fræ and the patent grant accept applications year round.

Who can apply
Open to companies in Iceland. Icelandic companies, individuals, universities and public institutions. Sproti is for companies 5 years old or younger and can be applied for before the company is founded. Vöxtur and Markaður are for SMEs with a project beyond the concept stage, Markaður for market related development.
Amount
Sproti: up to ISK 12 million per year, ISK 24 million in total over 2 years, no co-funding required. Vöxtur and Markaður amounts are set per call. Fræ (seed) and patent grants are open all year.
