Several doors just opened

A few invitations landed in our inbox this week. A new defence startup has launched in Stockholm, the Swedish Armed Forces are asking startups for help mapping cyber terrain, and several other doors are opening, from resilience tech meetups to deep tech book launches.

If you build in this space, some of them may be worth walking through.

• SISP (Swedish Incubators & Science Parks): The network for 60+ incubators and science parks in Sweden. Find yours here.
• The Yard: Gothenburg’s hub for co-working, community, and serious hardware. Explore their memberships.

• Freya Industries has launched in Stockholm to develop intelligent security technology for the physical domain. Founded by Jonas Åström (Nordic Hardtech) and Marcus Gustring, the company is now looking for investors and engineers. Read more, and perhaps reach out.
• Four Nordic founders – Hedda Båverud Olsson (Lassie), Dora Palfi (imagi), Sara Landfors (Normain) and Isabella Palmgren (Mimbly) – used International Women’s Day in a Sifted op-ed to question the whole idea of “female founder” initiatives. Their message: fewer panels and breakfasts, more access to the same rooms, capital and standards. Well worth a read.

• Niantic Spatial has partnered with Coco Robotics, operating in Helsinki, to deploy its Visual Positioning System (VPS). The system uses geospatial AI to improve navigation for last-mile delivery robots where GPS often fails. Full story here.
• RISE experts weigh in on whether quantum technology will be a revolution or a slower evolution. The biggest impacts may unfold gradually rather than overnight. Read the full piece → (article in Swedish)
• SportIQ, a Helsinki- and Los Angeles–based sports tech company building sensor-enabled smart balls, has raised $6.2M in Series A funding to expand its hardware platform into new sports and international markets.

• A reminder: On March 12, the first Resilience Tech-X Meetup in Stockholm connects founders, investors and ecosystem builders around defence, dual-use, cyber and space startups in the Nordics. Register here!
• Stockholm deeptech startup TERASi, a KTH spin-off building millimeter-wave radios for defence and industrial connectivity, is looking for a hardware engineer to automate lab testing and support R&D and scaling. Apply here.
• Another reminder: On March 24, Ola Wassvik, co-founder of Lightbringer, launches A Game of Deep Tech at Norrsken House Stockholm, sharing lessons from two decades of building deep tech companies.
• Kista Science City and the Swedish Armed Forces’ cyber defence unit are inviting startups to help map complex IT systems as part of a pilot to strengthen Sweden’s digital resilience. The initiative is seeking tools that can automate “terrain analysis” of cyber environments. Applications close March 30.
